The middle section of BJMTR Line 17 opened on December 27

The middle section of BJMTR Line 17 is planned to open on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with a total of 4 stations from north to south including Dongdaqiao station, Yong'anli station, Guangqumenwai station (temporarily suspended), and Panjiayuanxi station. Among these, Dongdaqiao station offers interchange with Line 6, and Yong'anli station offers interchange with Line 1. Upon the opening of this section, Line 17 will achieve full operational connectivity, bringing the total operational route length of BJMTR to approximately 200 kilometers.

After the full-line opening of Line 17, the entire journey takes only 66 minutes, providing passengers with a more convenient travel experience

Once the middle section of Line 17 opens and connects with the existing northern and southern sections, the fully operational line will link key functional areas including Tiantongyuan , Taiyanggong , Panjiayuan , and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. This will boost the development of regions such as Yizhuang New Town and Future Science City, while significantly improving transport accessibility in established functional zones like the CBD, the embassy district, and the area around Chaoyangmen.  In addition, Line 17 can transfer with 9 lines, which will help divert passenger flow from the northern section of Line 5 (Tiantongyuan area), ease congestion on the eastern section of Line 10, reduce pressure at Dongzhimen Transport Hub and Songjiazhuang interchange station, and also helps with passenger flow dispersal during large-scale events.
