The second "Beijing Traffic Open Day" event in 2023 is held. Citizens become "Special Experience Officers" and visit the BJMTR depot

On September 22nd, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport organized the second "Beijing Traffic Open Day" event of this year. Over 50 citizen representatives visited and experienced the Line 16 Bei’anhe depot of BJMTR, getting a close look at the behind-the-scenes work of metro operations, learning about metro safety knowledge, and enhancing their awareness of safe travel.

Citizen representatives visited the Bei’anhe Depot Training Base and toured the "Multi-Position Driving Training Simulation System" developed independently by BJMTR. It is reported that this system, developed since 2017, is the world's first in metro industry. It allows train dispatchers, drivers, and station officers to conduct interactive training simulations through immersive virtual reality, enhancing their professional skills. The application of this system fully reflects the training concept of BJMTR, which emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, focusing on cultivating practical skills. By solidifying the professional skills of employees, it enhances their emergency response capabilities, thus further ensuring the safety of passenger travel.

In addition, to provide citizens with a more intuitive understanding of the metro industry, the event featured a metro career experience segment. Under the guidance of staff, citizen representatives took turns to enter the train simulator to gain an immersive experience of a metro driver's work, deepening their understanding of metro job knowledge. Through participation in knowledge interactions, they further learned about metro safety and courteous travel.

After leaving the training base, citizens visited the Line 16 depot, where metro trains are parked, undergo daily maintenance, special inspections, and cleaning. They boarded the metro train, and the staff introduced the facilities inside the train, the structure of the driver's compartment, and various signs inside the train. At the end of the event, citizens also participated in an evacuation drill, experiencing firsthand how to safely and orderly evacuate through the train's emergency exits in the event of an emergency during train operation.
