BJMTR has taken a number of energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures to help achieve the national “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals” – BJMTR actively participated in the “Earth Hour” activity and carried out various energy-saving and carbon reduction actions

In order to facilitate the realization of the national "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals", BJMTR, in combination with the characteristics of low-carbon emission and environmental protection of urban rail transit industry, actively adopts a number of energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures. With the approaching of "Earth Hour", as a WWF Partner of Earth Hour China 2022,, BJMTR makes full use of various electronic media in stations to advocate that everyone choose more low-carbon lifestyles and jointly protect the earth.

For this year's "Earth Hour" event, BJMTR holds off-line activity on March 25-26 at the Beijing Univ. of Tech. West Gate of Line 14, to encourage passengers to choose public transportation and take more stairs rather than elevators. In addition, from March 25th to April 25th, BJMTR continues to collect low-carbon lifestyle and environmental protection tips from netizens through the "Calls for Low-Carbon Life tips " online event.

Meanwhile, a series of energy-saving actions have been carried out within the company. Employees are encouraged to turn off lights and office equipments which are not in use. From 20:30 to 21:30 on March 26, under the premise of ensuring normal operations services, BJMTR closes some rooms and passage lighting in the office areas of the stations of each operated line, as well as non-essential lighting equipment in office buildings. In recent years, BJMTR has continued to carry out a number of energy-saving and low-carbon projects on the basis of providing high-quality travel services for passengers. In 2021 alone, the implementation of energy-saving and carbon reduction projects on existing lines reduces carbon emissions by about 9,100 tons.
