Chief Executive Hong Kong Mr. Donald Tsang Visited BJMTR

March 5, 2012, Chief Executive Hong Kong Mr. Donald Tsang visited BJMTR. This is his second visit 3 years after his first visit in 2009. Relevant officers of HKSAR government, Non-executive Chairman of MTR Dr. Raymond Ch’ien Kuo-Fung and GM BJMTR Mr. Richard Wong accompanied him.

In the afternoon, the team arrived BJMTR located at Majiapu Depot BJL4. On behalf of MTR, Dr. Raymond Ch’ien Kuo-fung thanked the HKSAR government for its continuous support to MTR and briefed business development of MTR at various locations.  GM BJMTR Richard Wong then presented him business development of BJMTR. The Chief Executive Hong Kong listened to the presentation carefully. He expressed that HKSAR government attached great importance to the cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong.  BJL4 is the biggest investment project in infrastructure cooperated between Beijing and Hong Kong. HKSAR government pays great attention to it.  He hopes that under the background of ever-closer exchange between Beijing and Hong Kong MTR could keep the leading edge in the sector to contribute more to the development of Beijing Metro network and the cooperation of the 2 cities.

During the visit, Mr. Donald Tsang met MTR secondees, asked their living conditions in Beijing and thanked them for their efforts in facilitating mutual understanding of people in the 2 cities. The team visited the maintenance shop of BJL4 afterwards.

BJMTR is currently operating BJL4 and Daxing line. BJL4 is a south-north transport artery in Beijing Metro Network. It was opened for trial operation on September 28, 2009.  Up to now, BJL4 transported 665 million passengers with average daily patronage of 870K and peak daily patronage of 1.14 million. DXL opened for trial operation on December 30, 2010. Up to now, it carried over 70 million passengers with average daily patronage of 170K and peak daily patronage of 250K.
