Normal OCTA newly issued normal OCT should have a depot of RMB 20 and an initial value of RMB 20 minimum; The added value should be integer multiple of RMB 10; the maximum value at every value-adding is RMB 500 and the maximum balance of a card is RMB 1000.

 

2   Method for the Issue and Use of Ticket at Beijing Metro (AFC System) (Provisional)

 

Chapter 1  General
Article 1
This method is made in accordance with relevant rules and regulations to regulate the issue and use of ticket in Beijing Metro Network AFC system.
Article 2 Ticket in this method refers to the single journey ticket issued by Beijing Metro Network Administration Company Limited (Referred to as BMNAC hereafter) and the One Card Through Card (Referred to as OCT card) issued by Beijing Municipal Administration & Communication Card Co., Ltd. ( Referred to as BMAC hereafter).
Article 3 BMNAC is responsible for the manufacture and issue management of single journey ticket, single journey ticket includes normal single journey ticket , welfare ticket, etc.
Article 4 This method is applicable to all the operation lines of Beijing Metro except the Airport Express Line. Separate regulations will be made for the Airport Express Line.
 

 

Chapter 2  Purchase of Ticket
Article 5  Purchase of Single Journey Ticket
(1) Normal Single Journey Ticket
Passengers can buy it at the TVM at the station or at the book office.
When using TVM to by normal single journey ticket, passengers can use RMB 1 coin or RMB 5, RMB 10 notes and follow the instruction at the TVM.  
(2) Welfare Ticket
Passengers holding valid ticket-free certificate shall get a welfare ticket at the station book office upon the certificate. Ticket-free certificate can only be used by the holder himself/herself. Blind passenger with a “Disable Certificate (Sight disabled) ” can have a companion free of ticket. 
Article 6 
Value Adding with TVM
In addition to the Card Issue Point, passengers can add value to the card via TVM installed at the stations by following the instructions of the TVM. Only RMB 50 and RMB 100 notes are acceptable at the TVM.
 

 

Chapter 3  Use of Ticket
Article 7
  Use of Single Journey Ticket
(1)Normal Single Journey Ticket
A normal single journey ticket is only valid for one person for single entering at the purchasing station on the purchasing day.
When entering with a normal single journey ticket, passenger shall swipe the ticket at the card reading area on the entering gate.  A sound “ Di” from the gate indicates a successful swiping, the gate opens and passenger passes it quickly.    
When exiting, passenger should insert the normal single journey ticket into the collecting slot at the exit gate, the gate opens and passenger exit quickly.
(2)Welfare Ticket
A welfare ticket is only valid for his/her own use for a single entering at the receiving station.  Passengers using welfare ticket should cooperate with the metro staff in checking the certificate and the ticket.
When entering with a welfare ticket, passenger shall swipe the ticket at the card reading area on the entering gate.  A sound “ Di” and an amber light from the gate indicates a successful swiping, the gate opens and passenger passes it quickly.    
When exiting, passenger should insert the welfare ticket into the collecting slot at the exit gate, the gate opens and passenger exit quickly.
Article 8  Use of OCT card
One card is valid for one person entering once.
When entering with an OCT card, passenger shall swipe the card at the card reading area on the entering gate.  A sound “ Di” from the gate indicates a successful swiping, the gate opens and passenger passes it quickly.    
When exiting, passenger should swipe the card at the card reading area on the exit gate, the gate opens after deducting the fare, passenger exit quickly.
Article 9  Fare Upon Arrival
(1) Passengers travel with OCT card without record of entering station or with the OCT card lost, must pay the fare of this journey on cash at the station Fare Upon Arrival Office and get an exit ticket.
(2)Passengers travel with single journey ticket and lose it must pay RMB 3 for the cost the ticket and get an exit ticket at the Fare Upon Arrival Office.
(3)When exit with the exit ticket, passenger must insert it in the collecting slot, the gate opens and the passenger exits quickly.
Article 10  Ticket can only be processed one at a time, 2 or more tickets overlapped are not acceptable.
Article 11 Passengers should line up and pass the enter/exit gate one by one after swiping the card.
Article 12 One adult passenger can have a child under 1.2 m free of fare. When passing the gate, he/she shall let the child go ahead of him/her.
 

 

Chapter 4  Handling of abnormalities

Handling of abnormalities of single journey ticket
In the cases that passenger can not pass the enter gate normally with the single journey ticket, he/she should change it at the book office in the station.
In the cases that passenger can not exit normally due to the fact that the single journey ticket is not identifiable, he/she should change it into an exit ticket at the Fare Upon Arrival Office.
If the single journey ticket is damaged due to improper use or keep, the holder should pay RMB 3 as the cost of the ticket and get an exit ticket.
Article 14  Handling of abnormality of OCT card
In the cases that passenger can not enter with an OCT card, he/she may check the card on the Automatic Inquiry Machine. If there is not enough value in the card, he/she can add value first or buy a ticket on cash; If the reason is the absent of record of last exit, he/she should pay for the last ride at the book office first; If the card is not readable normally, he/she should buy a ticket on cash and contact the customer center of BMAC in time.
Article 15  In the cases that the operation of the metro lines is interrupted due to various reasons, the ticket may refund in accordance with relevant regulations.

Chapter 6 Supplementary Articles
Article 18
Reimbursement tag for single journey ticket is available at the book office of stations upon ticket.
Article 19 Passengers should keep the single journey ticket properly to avoid loss or damage.
Article 20 Any person who enter or exit the paid area of the station by climbing over the gate or fence is subject to a surcharge of 10 times of the fare, after paying the surcharge, he/she will get an exit ticket to get out of the station.
Article 21 This method is implemented at the time when the metro network AFC system is put into operation.
